Pintchik Oracle Goes Dark, Brooklyn Fantasists In A Panic

This morning, and for the first time in the years I have been living around the corner from it, the Pintchik Oracle went dark.

The Oracle, which was written up in 2003 by The New Yorker, is a favorite Brooklyn landmark celebrated as a vestige of mystery and fantasy in the increasingly staid Park Slope district. I enjoyed the Oracle for its ability to tell me the time, temperature, and special deals on air conditioners. Let's hope this isn't the last of it.
